From traffic cameras to the parking lane

Where it started

Before NoctoPark there were roads. Noctoptics' founder spent his early career in intelligent traffic systems with a manufacturer of the technology, specialising in the cameras that read and recognise vehicles at speed — the same problem a parking lane has, at a larger scale and with less forgiveness.

A distributor first

Back in Canada, he founded Noctoptics in 2023 as an independent security technology distributor, supplying cameras, recorders and access control to installers across Québec and Atlantic Canada. That is still the business underneath: we sell to the people who install, and we hear what fails on site.

The gap

Canadian parking technology had not kept up. License plate recognition was bolted onto ticket dispensers as an afterthought. Nobody specialised in reading the plate and identifying the vehicle behind it, which is the difference between a camera that counts cars and a system that can reconcile a stay.

So Noctoptics invested in research and development in the field it knew best. NoctoPark rolled out in 2024: cameras loaded with our own recognition software, a high-speed gate, a payment station, and the platform that ties them together. Ticketless from the ground up, not retrofitted onto a machine that dispenses paper.
